Thai culture is established
over 1,000 years. In Sukhothai era which was the first capital city of Thailand,
Thai culture is developed and supported by the great king named "Ramkhamhang." He has created Thai
alpabets, extreme culture, and family society. He has followed the ideas of Buddhism to provide Thai
culture. In the mean time, he has governed the country like fathers taken care of
their sons. From time to time, Thai culture is a very strong culture in Southeast
Asia. The main point of culture is to welcome anyone to be a part of family.
Thai people respect each other and call each other by the respectful words in font of
their name such as grand father (Pu or Taa), grand mother (Yaa or Yai), uncle (Lung), aunt
(Naa), father (Por), mother (Mae), brother (Pee), sister(Nong) and so on.
Buddhism and Thai culture come together from the first time of first capital. When
Thai people celebrate the events, they provide the Buddist monks to bless them first,
then, join the event or party. So Buddhism is a heart of Thai culture and Thai
people. The
Thai king is also a Buddhist by Thai supreme laws.
Thai people welcome anybody to come and join any activities. In rulan areas, Thai
people invite anyone come to their houses, have a food and water, and stay in their
house. If you are foriegners, they are happy to take care of you. They ask you
to eat first, and then give the blessing to you. After you walk from their houses
and go to somewhere, they will say good words for a good luck. For Thai chilren,
they will love to play with you when they know you.
Thailand is a land of smile. It is a beautiful country and amazing culture. You can see a
smile of Thai people around the country. Even though they live in other countries,
they still do the same that they do in Thailand, and continue to reserve their culture to
the next generation. Sometimes the country has an inflation and economic crisis,
they act every things the same that they do in the past. Thailand has own language, tradition, culture, and is an independent
country. So we welcome all of you to Thailand and joint
Thai culture.
